As promised...a few more Easter things

Hi! Hope you're having a great week! This is the cake I made for the swap in which I participated.

I think it's not bad for a first faux cake. It was really fun to try something new. The spackling works great and is easy to color. I went really simple with this: just adding some flowers and ribbon to the bunny and glitter to the top of the cake.
I think the hardest thing was making the cake look good where the box comes apart. A pretty ribbon around the middle might be a solution. Or, maybe instead of a box, it should just be a decoration. That would certainly be easier!
I think this Easter Madonna is beautiful.
She is the major focus with glitter around her and a pretty stamped frame.

I actually designed this egg a couple of years ago. I made two this year (one I took out to Sparkles and the other Kirby gave to his wife.) I still have a couple more Easter items that I'll share on Sunday. Have fun and I'll see you then!

Easter?

I had my Easter date all confused until yesterday. I was off by a week! I thought Easter was the 11th, but it's the 4th! So, I had to hurry and finish everybody's Easter card orders. I love these two vintage bunny images.

I can't imagine anything sweeter that a bunny getting wings. This little basket I finished up and took out to Sparkles yesterday. I hope it's not too late for someone to enjoy or give for Easter! I'll try to post a few more cards before Sunday.

Coaster Cards?

Yes! Funny, but true. I saw these coasters at Michaels (dollar bin) and thought they were cute. I didn't want them as coasters, so.... why not cards?

What do you think? Do you think they made cute cards?

A Santa Fe Wedding

What a crazy weekend weatherwise! First day of spring and we have 24 hours of snow! That's Oklahoma for you... 70s on Friday and 20s on Saturday!

These are the invitations I designed for a Santa Fe wedding. Suzanne and Al got married last weekend at the Loretto Chapel. My mom and Mika (a co-worker and friend) helped me make 50 invitations with response cards and 60 programs. (I forgot to take pictures of the programs, drat!) The inside of the invite included a gorgeous picture of the chapel and the setting sun. I also made Suzanne's wedding guest book. She really didn't have colors for the wedding, but she did say she was carrying ivory and burnt orange flowers, so I went with that. I also wanted to use some elements from the invitation.

Suzanne was thrilled with the response to the wedding invitations and in turn, so was I! Congratulations, Suzanne and Al!

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Don't forget to wear green! I'm wearing my soldered charm with the little Irish girl (scroll down to see) so I don't have to worry. This is the silver frame I keep at my office. I just change the paper in it and the decoration to match the season. The vintage images are enlarged and I added glitter (of course!), some stamping, and pretty shamrocks and ribbon. The kids are on pop dots, adding dimension, and the sides are embellished with a Martha Stewart border punch.

Easter Swap and a Memory Book

Hi! Hope you're having a nice weekend. I'm participating in an Easter swap hosted by Cassandra Van Curen on her blog, My Artful Adventures. We're all making a faux cake, decorating them, packing them with goodies and sending them to our partners by March 31st. Yes, a FAUX cake! I hope mine turns out as cute as the one Cassandra posted. I'll post a picture of mine as soon as it's finished. I'm having the worse time finding what I want to put on the top. Michaels things are really big and not that cute and Hobby Lobby's were worse! Let me know if you see any really cute smallish easter decorations (particulary bunnies)...I'd be very grateful!

My friend, Souna, asked me to make two memory books...one for herself and one for her friend, Falon, who is getting married soon. Souna and Falon are part of a girl's group that get together pretty often (in fact, I think once a week). The memory book is part of Falon's wedding shower gift.

Souna is on the right and Falon on the left.

Souna wrote the friend acrostic. It's so very sweet! The next picture shows a pretty flower I made with lace and a couple of buttons.

I'm meeting Souna for lunch tomorrow to deliver...hope she likes them!

You are such a Deer and a Cupcake, Too!

Hi! Hope you had a nice weekend. We actually went to the movies yesterday! We don't go very often. We saw Avatar. I thought the story was great (Dennis, not so much). I'm not sure the 3D was that awesome, though. The glasses hurt behind my ears after awhile and most things seemed 2D anyway. However, I still bought in to the story and was tense almost all the way through. I kept thinking, "NO! DON'T DO IT!" But I knew they would. The destruction was hard to watch and that humans were responsible hard to take.

I'm sharing a sweet card today. I cut the vintage image apart and enlarged the butterflies a little. The papers are from K & Co. I just love the little deer and bluebird...so cute! The stamp is an old one from Stampin'Up.

This is my cupcake.
I watched the how-to video from Fabulously Artsy. Then, created my own. It is designed to hold a giftcard. I attached a flower and ribbon to a tag and then used a paperclip to hold on the giftcard. It worked great!

May You Have the Luck of the Irish!

Here are a couple of things I created for St. Patrick's Day. I created the pattern for the card and Dennis tweaked it for me so it would stand properly. The paper is actually the backside of an October Afternoon Christmas paper.
I love the little girl that's in the frame and in the soldered charm. She's adorable with those money bags around her! I think she's perfect for "the wearing of the green." I won't have to worry about getting pinched with her around my neck!
