City Crafter Challenge - Shades of Green

How's your 4th? We're having a downpour here! Wonder if there will be fireworks?


CHERYLJUNEGIRL left a comment on my blog, which led me to her blog and another challenge blog: City Crafter. The challenge is Shades of Green. It just so happened that I had just cut out this darling little girl who just so happened to be dressed in green. Hmmm...an opportunity to use shades of green! This little girl with her birthday cake is so sweet.
I cut out a doily card using the Wild Card cartridge from Cricut. The background papers are Basic Grey Nook and Pantry. And barely seen is a doily aged with Ranger Ink Peeled Paint, a pretty green shade. The edges of the card and background papers are also highlighted with Peeled Paint.
I was out of green crinkle ribbon, so I made some yesterday. The wish sentiment is from The Cutting Cafe's Birthday Fun set. Are you off tomorrow? I'm looking forward to an extra day.

Happy Fourth of July!

Hope you're having a great holiday weekend! It rained a lot this morning...I was almost afraid of another flood! I think it's going to rain some more - doesn't look like it's over. Here are my new Fourth of July decorations. I've kept them at work. It seems like I get to enjoy them more. I love this bucket!
Picked it up at Michaels and added all the goodies, including those fabulous feet from Tim Holtz.
That great eagle stamp and the stamp on the bow are from Darcie Heater.

The vintage Independence Day postcard is a perfect image for me.

Popped the kids up, added glitter, ribbon, stars and buttons. Pretty!

What is 2S4Y? 2 Sketches for You! I kept seeing these sketches and wondered where they were coming from. I checked out the blog to see what it was all about. Two women post sketches on the blog to be used to create cards. Each week they have a sponsor and one lucky player wins something from the sponsor. Sounds like fun...I decided to play along. Here is the sketch:

I told you I love vintage shoe images! I found a way to put four on one card! That shoe with the kitty is the sweetest!
I pretty much stuck to the sketch. I changed the divider running underneath the four boxes to a banner on top of the four boxes. Are you tired of that crinkle ribbon yet? I must be addicted...I keep making different colors. I just love it! This card was a lot of fun and a challenge to use someone else's sketch.

The Cutting Cafe Elephant

This darling elephant is from The Cutting Cafe. It's included in All About Babies. The set is great! Lots of cute images. Earlier, I used the duck image to make my duck pull toy. The elephant is part of a digi-stamp. You can see what the circle stamp looks like on the lollipop gift tag.
I changed the color to brown and colored an extra elephant and popped him up on the tag. The papers are a favorite from Cosmo Cricket. Added my pretty crinkle ribbon and a vintage button. To make the card, I enlarged the elephant and printed it toward the bottom of a piece of cardstock.
I then scored the cardstock right at the top of his back, folded the cardstock and cut out the elephant. (Tip: It's much easier to cut out the top layer and then cut around it for the bottom layer!) The banner was made with another awesome set from The Cutting Cafe: Assorted Banner Templates. I added the letters for BABY and printed it on old ledger paper.
Added some tiny scallops and finished it off with stars, buttons and twine. What do you think about my first project for The Cutting Cafe as a design team member? Thanks for stopping by!

More Aunt Jane

Hi! Hope you've had a nice week so far. I've been busy...working on my first Cutting Cafe project since the design team announcement. I'll have it ready to show you later in the week. How about some more cards for Aunt Jane? I designed two birthday cards for her. One from her sister (my grandma) and one from us and my parents. Okay, I have to say I love vintage shoe images!
I'm going to be using some more, for sure! And these little girls are just adorable!

I really like the frame from Tattered Angels. I just aged it a little and sprinkled on some glitter...pretty! Thanks for stopping by!

The Cutting Cafe Design Team

How exciting! I checked my e-mail before going to sleep last night and got the wonderful news that I've been chosen by Regina Easter for The Cutting Cafe Design Team! Check out the blinkie in my side bar. I'll be posting creations made with her wonderful templates. You might remember a couple of her templates that I've already used: the strawberry card and the duck shape I used for the pull toy.

Last weekend was my great aunt Jane's 75th birthday party hosted by her daughters, Karen and Dena. It was so nice to see them and my cousins, Joy and Kathy. We were asked to bring a memory page to be placed in a book. My mom and Jane used to make hollyhock dolls together, so this is the memory page we brought for the book:

My mom found this postcard and sent it to me. It's perfect!

The following two cards were designed for my aunt Jane to give to her daughters as Thank You cards. They are made postcard style instead of opening. I used vintage crate labels and tried to keep them somewhat alike, while using very different materials.

Guy Birthday Cards

Hi! I've had to make a few guy birthday cards recently. I've complained before about the difficulty of making guy cards, but I'm fairly pleased with these. This one was made for a guy at work that drives a great vintage auto.

I also made this one for a man at work.
This card was made for Kirby, who I work with in our small office.
