Father's Day 2018

Been having so much fun (except for ear infections) with Louisa!  She has an ear infection in both ears, so the poor sweet thing is feeling pretty rough.

Luckily, she's had everybody to help out:  mommy and daddy, grandma and grandpa and great grandma and great grandpa.  

Louisa's feeling better, but as Lauren said "is on hair-trigger crankiness!"

While Louisa was napping, I made these father's day tags. I really like the font and the blue and green plaid.  If you like them, they are ready to download below.

I used the "payday" one to create a little treat.  Love the play on words!

I happen to really like Payday's, too.  Yum!

I wrapped the Payday in light weight Kraft mailing paper and hot glued stars onto the twine.

I used the XOXO tag to create a pillow box treat filled with Kisses (with almonds) and Hugs.

I used the last two tags to make a clean and simple Father's Day card.

One tag for the outside and ...

one for the inside.  I cut out the middle of the tag for the inside sentiment.

Another clean and simple Father's Day card.  This is one of my favorite frame stamps and "dad" fit perfectly.

I bought 2 digital sets and combined them to make these cute Star Wars cards.  Paul and I are big Star Wars fans, so Louisa is going to give her daddy the Leia one.

I have the best dads in my family.  They are all the best of men:  kind, caring, responsible, honest, supportive of women.  All characteristics that I cherish and appreciate.

Glad We're TIED Together!

Father's Day is coming up soon and I always like something cute to hold a candy bar and gift card.   I know a tie is kind of cliche', but I think this is cute enough and the sentiment is so fun that it overcomes the "boring Father's Day tie."

What do you think?  On Pinterest, I saw several shirt and tie ideas and I just tweaked it a little.

The shirt is made from a business size envelope.   I used liquid adhesive to seal the envelope, so it would be sure to stay sealed.

The start of the collar is a slit down the middle of the top layer.  

Finish the collar with two simple folds.

Use the tie template to cut out a tie and cut out the top of the tie again for a knot.  

Easy, right?

Easy Father's Day Ideas + a Giveaway

Father's Day is about a week away.   It seems like we only all get together to celebrate Thanksgiving and Christmas anymore.  Does that happen when your children grow up and move away?  Luckily (as a lot of you know), I get to have lunch with my mom and dad once a week.  I wouldn't trade it for anything.  So, when I see Mom and Dad (probably this Friday), we'll have our own little Father's Day celebration.  And Daddy, you're getting to see a part of your gift early!

Here are a few links, a how-to, and a printable tag to make easy Father's Day projects. 

My daddy and I have always loved chocolate.  Chocolate cake, brownies, chocolate chip cookies - I'm going to have to stop there or I'm going to run down to the kitchen and start baking!  And of course, chocolate candy bars - no baking involved - just a little wrapping...

This is as easy as:

I have much better luck by using the actual candy bar as a guide instead of measuring.  After making the first score right at the edge of the candy bar, stand the candy bar on edge and line it up with a score line.  For this candy bar that was 1/4".  

Then do the exact same thing on the other side and repeat the same scores with the band.  A little washi tape to finish off and you're almost done.  Download the tag below - I printed the one for this wrap at about 2 1/2" and used a 2 3/4" circle die to cut it out.

I love this paper!  I love the graphic design and the colors.  It is exactly what I wanted for my candy bar wrap.  The linen texture in the blue band (which you really can't see in the photo) is extra nice.  You can get these papers at MAISHOP Digital Art.

How about a couple more easy ideas:

The chalkboard card is from Scootapie and the little boy and girl are from Nomagraphic Design.  I simply added twine and hearts.  And popped the boy and girl on top of a blue card base.  These are awesome enough for any dad!

Monochromatic Monogram Cards + Happy Father's Day

Let's celebrate Dad today!  Dennis and I met my parents for lunch .  It's kind of funny, but since my daughter has grown up, we really don't go all out on holidays (or birthdays) like we used to.  

But it was fun to get together at a local pizza place and no one had to wash dishes!

I used a vintage valentine to make this card.  My friend, Souna, (who is a first grade teacher) had me change the wording on this, so that she could use it as a thank you card to give to parents at the end of the year who had volunteered in the classroom. 

I rather like these monochromatic monogram notecards. 

I think they work great for Dad and I'm thinking with a curvier alphabet, they would be great for me, too!

So....What Is It?

Yesterday, I asked you "what is it?"   If you commented you were in the running for winning a free template of your choice from My Time Made Easy - that's pretty cool!   And I was wrong - the winner is announced tomorrow, May 2nd, not today!  So sorry for messing that up!  So be sure to check back tomorrow...

Of course, most of you were spot on - no fooling any of you!  It is a grill - complete with side burners (well, I just put a burner on one side - didn't want to burn the mustard and ketchup!).   

It is so cute and I certainly think it's perfect for Father's Day!  The sentiment is from Dad's Day to Relax digital stamp set.  The stars are cut with Magical Birthday Wishes cut file.  The banner paper is from Picnic of Patterns.

I added the condiments by coloring two images - making one the front and the other one the back and then gluing two pieces of paper between the front and back that are about a half inch longer than the condiments.  I put a small slit in the tray, inserted the condiments and glued the ends under the tray.  The condiment bottle and hot dog are from the new digital stamp set It's Grillin' Time.   Want to see the grill open?

Nuts About You

It's Father's Day!   I mentioned earlier that I was lucky to have a wonderful dad.  One of my fondest memories involves my daddy and Icees.  We would take off to the 7-Eleven and Daddy would get a Coke Icee and I would get a cherry one. 

It was a real treat and I think we were both happy to have them.  Sometimes we'd get brain freeze from slurping them so fast!  I kind of associate car washes with these memories, but I can't remember if we went to a car wash or if Daddy washed the car at home.  These little memories (what I can remember of them) are so important to me.  

My Dennis is also a wonderful Daddy to our daughter, Lauren.  I can still picture them side by side on the couch pouring over architecturial, costume, furniture or history books together.  (I can probably picture it so easily, because when we're together they still do it!) 

They both have amazing memories, but it can be a little irritating to watch period movies with them.  Dennis will say something like:  "That coach is all wrong, it didn't come out until 10 years later"  or  "They certainly didn't have wire hangers then" or "That music wasn't written until five years after this happened."  You get the picture.  But I'm nuts about him anyway!

Tie-riffic Dad for The Cutting Cafe

It's getting close to Father's Day.   The Cutting Cafe has several "tie-riffic" sets to create great Father's Day cards.  I used the cut files from the Shirt and Tie set and the sentiments from For My Tie-riffic Dad stamp set.

I'm so lucky that I have a tie-riffic dad!  My dad is so lucky that he doesn't have to wear a tie anymore.  My parents make retirement look good.

Preview Day: My Time Made Easy

Time for fun - time for Dad!  You are in for a treat with this month's release from My Time Made Easy.  Today, I'm showcasing the Blue Collar Template - it's a fun shirt-shaped box.  Perfect for a Father's Day treat...

I'm also showing a couple of images from a wonderful new digital stamp set called A Vintage Day for Dad.   These are wonderful vintage-looking stamps and come in lots of colors!

 I also put together a simple gift card holder using a glassine bag and a couple of the really cool new papers and stamps.

I always mention how I like gift cards and I love creating cute ways to give them.  Just slip the tag and card inside the bag - way easy!

I filled the shirt box with Lundt Lindor Truffles in dark chocolate and hazelnut milk chocolate.  I had never tried them, but came highly recommended by my friend, Linda.
