Sending Hedgehugs to You!

Sending you hedgeHUGs.  That's just adorable!  My son-in-law, Paul, had hedgehogs as pets when he was little.  He seems to think they are pretty awesome.  The closest I've been to one is sweet Hedgie in Jan Brett's books.  I have to say he is pretty awesome!  

The hedgehogs in this treat set are super cute   I got the stamps first and then came across the darling paper for the treat bag.

I already had the card made before I saw the hedgehog paper - it couldn't have been more perfect!

Love the shape of this treat bag as well.  I made it just a little squat-y.  Seems to make it cuter somehow!  Check out the video below showing how to make it:



Hopefully, you'll have a lttle something to package that would be a perfect fit for this little bag.

Vintage Valentine's Day Treat Boxes

 Hope you had a wonderful Christmas!   I have to say Christmas was pretty wonderful.

The Highs of Christmas:

1.  New Grandbaby

2.  Christmas Goose

 Christmas with Louisa was so awesome, singing Christmas Carols and reading Christmas books.  We cooked our first goose for Christmas dinner.  Well, I should say that Lauren and her daddy cooked Christmas Goose while I played with Louisa.  Worked for me!

Here's what sweet Louisa looked like when she picked us up for our visit.  Her mommy took the picture right before they left the house.  So sweet!

The Lows of After Christmas:

1.  Computer Hard Drive Crash (still working on getting it all back together!)
2.  Flu
3.  Strep


Seriously, BOTH! 

 Dennis came down with flu while we were there.  So far we can say Louisa doesn't have it, thank goodness!  But I was diagnosed yesterday with flu and strep! Yuck!  Needless to say, we didn't go out for New Year's Eve...

But, I am smiling over these cute valentine treat boxes!  They are both ready to print and create.  You can choose (or why don't you just make both) a kitten or a puppy, pink or teal.  Each one comes with a sentiment wrap.

The  boxes are super easy to put together and the kitten and puppy will make you smile, too!

You're All That and a Donut!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE donuts!   I don't care if people say they're no good for me.  I disagree - something that I so totally enjoy are perfect for me!

So when I say "You're All That and A Donut!"  I'm saying a lot!

This sweet project can work for all kinds of things:  a valentine, a birthday, father's day, friend's day, a thank you....  A donut is perfect for just about everything!

Another cool thing about this is that it is fairly quick and easy. 

You can use special donut dies (like these from Reverse Confetti) or a circle die and handcut the icing.  

You can add just about any color glitter for the icing.  This is a combination of brown tinsel glitter and regular brown glitter.

Here's how to make a box to fit a donut (I used donuts from Dunkin' Donuts):

Cut two pieces of 110lb cardstock to 8 1/4" x 8 1/4".  Score both pieces 2" from the edge on all four sides.  For the bottom of the box, using the photo above as a guide, also score four 1/2" tabs.  Then cut off the corners and slit the tabs.

Fold up the box on the scores and glue tabs.

Now, for the top.   It's already been scored 2" on all sides.   Follow directions in photo.

One last step for the top:  the sides need to be angled a bit so that the lid will tuck into the bottom.

Glue the 2" flap to the back of the bottom and tuck the top into the bottom.  Box is complete!

Add a cute tag - you can download these HERE.  These cute frames are from Fudgy Brownies.   You might want to make some different tags with these!

I added some tiny hearts (included in the donut dies above) to make this box for Valentines.  I may have to give this to myself!

Hi, Ho Silver and a Puppy

Wow!  This has been a tough January.  I've been super busy at work and am exhausted when I get home.  Talk about affecting my mojo!   Give me some advice - how do you wind down and get your mind off things like work so that your creative juices can flow?

I've got a couple of sweet vintage valentine projects to share today.   I wanted a couple of easy packaging options for a small box of conversation hearts.  

I think this Lone Ranger valentine would work for a boy.  It's so cute!  You can download the image HERE.  I've cut some the bottom of the original image off, but left it on for you.  

The conversation heart box fit perfectly inside a kraft envelope.

However, the box is pink, which didn't fit my color scheme.  So I decided a wrap was in order.  I know - it has a little pink, too, but at least it's not the whole box!

Sweet, right?  This puppy cutie is from Studio Shine Vintage.  The conversation heart box also fit into some clear pillow boxes that I have.  

The arrow is made with a lollipop stick, stamps and dies from My Favorite Things.  I hot glued the arrow point and feathers to the lollipop stick.
