Hello Lovely!

Hello, Lovelies!  I'm having fun again with my Minc!  Can't seem to stay away from the gold foil.  Must love the shine...

This Hello Lovely card was part of the All About the Gold Choux Box Kit.   If you're interested in the next Choux Box Kit offering, click on the the Choux Box Kit Club link at the top of the page.

You can download the Hello Lovely page HERE.   These are lovely in black and white - you can enjoy them without a Minc!

Well, Hump Day is almost over and we're on the fast track to the weekend.  Looking forward to tomorrow evening first, though.  We're going to see the Faberge exhibit at the museum.  I hear it's lovely.  (Couldn't resist!)

Okay, just one more:   Have a lovely rest of your week!  Have you got anything fun planned?

Tags for Download: Minc (or not)!

We're having a weird kind of day today - a high in the 70s in July!   That hardly ever happens.  That's pretty amazing, but it's still really humid.  Every hair on my head is about 4 times thicker than normal and the gray ones are really crazy!  I've gotten to where I just have to say "Oh, well...."

I picked up some great tags at Michaels the other day - all pretty, gold and shiny.   They inspired this card and the tags I have for download below.  Now this card has something really cool, besides all the  pretty gold.

It's front is a die cut panel!  I love how it's see through.

Let me give you a tip that I figured out the HARD way:  Give yourself 1/4 to 1/2" to work with at the fold.  It is REALLY hard to fold over 1/8"!

To figure out what size card base you need measure your die cut panel and add 1/4 to 1/2" to the length.  Example:  This die cut panel is 4" x 5 1/4".  The card base before trimming needs to be 4" x 5 1/2 or 5 3/4".  Score it at 5 1/4" from the bottom.  You want the base to be the same size as the die cut panel.  Fold over the extra and then trim the fold piece to about 1/8" (or the width of the frame of your die cut panel) and glue.

Okay, let's have a little more fun with tags!  You can download these HERE.

They are great for foiling with a Minc machine or printing them on different colored cardstock.

Here I printed them on yellow:

Love this paper. I think I've had it about ten years!  I so wish I knew where I got this from.  It's about 20 inches wide and came on a roll.  It is a lovely weight and texture.  It would be nice to see what they have now.

You can see how to make a gusseted bag on THIS POST.

I also foiled all of the tags in gold, pink and teal.

Just went really simple with this.  So hard to photograph the pretty shine!

Hope you're having a wonderful week whatever the weather is where you are!

Diagonal Stripes + Tags Download

This card and embellished envelope are made from the same paper!  I created a sheet of diagonal stripes in Printshop and printed it off to make the black and white envelope.  Then I printed another, photocopied it (has to be toner!) and foiled it with my Minc.  Pretty cool!

I love black and white!  A long time ago (maybe even before Lauren was born and she's 29), Dennis and I went to an open house.  The living room walls were painted a shiny black and all the trim was white.  It was GORGEOUS!  Every time I think about it, I think we need to do that!  It was so dramatic.  The black and white diagonal makes a dramatic backdrop for whatever you want to put on it.  It is sized to print on 8 1/2 x 11 paper.  I printed mine on 80lb cardstock.

You can download the black and white diagonal stripe HERE.

You can download the tag sentiments HERE.

To turn the sentiments into tags:  Cut them to desired size.   You don't have to use a die to decorate the top, but I like how it looks.  To only use part of a die, be sure to not roll the bottom part of the die through your machine.  It doesn't cut, but it makes an indention.  Ask me how I know.  When I made this tag, not only did I do it once - I promptly went in there and rolled a second one all the way through!  You're looking at #3 in the pictures...

Here are instructions for the string tie envelope:

Cut the diagonal stripes to 8" x 8 1/2".  On the 8" side score as indicated.

Score as indicated on the 8 1/2" side.

Cut off the corners on the score marks.  Optional:  Round corners of top tab.

Fold in the side panels and glue.  Fold up the bottom tab and glue.

Get the buttons ready.  Thread buttons through holes and tie in a knot at the back,  If you would like an alternative to buttons, see THIS POST.  (You'll also see a different shaped envelope than this one.)

Add extra adhesive to the pop dot.  Don't count on just the sticky on the pop dot - it needs to be sturdier.  You could add Aleene's or hot glue.

And now on to the foiled diagonal stripes!

I have a tip for the Minc if you're going to foil the diagonal stripes.  I tend to get best results when I run it through the Minc twice.  The gold butterfly is actually cut from a piece of gold foiled crescent board that we carry in the store.  It's just wonderful!

Just sold out of all the July 4th kits - thank you, kit club members!  Watch for a new mega kit coming soon:  It's All About the Gold - filled with gold goodies for your creations!  If you would like to join the Choux Box Kits Club, click on the link at the top of my blog and fill out the form.  You'll get an email newsletter when new kits are available.

CanvasPop Giveaway + Printable

Have I got something fun today!  I'd like to introduce you to Canvaspop.  Canvaspop will take your favorite photo and turn it into a canvas.  I sent one of my favorite pictures of my mom and dad - 1961, right after their wedding in the back of a '57 Chevy.  (Were  you surprised to see your face, Mom?)

Isn't it great?  The photo wraps around the edges - I really like that.  I'm helping my mom and dad with a black and white photo wall in their new house.   This is a perfect addition!

In the interest of full disclosure, Steve from Canvaspop contacted me and asked me if might do a review.  Since the canvas is fabulous, I'm happy to post about it.  And the other fabulous thing is that one lucky reader will win a photo canvas from Canvaspop!  Details are below.

I wanted to wrap the canvas simply to give to my mom and dad.  I tied some gold cording around it and attached a foiled pocket with a tag.  I just got a Minc and used it to create the pink foiled words on the pocket - very cool, huh?

I've created a printable that can be printed with toner (not inkjet - that means copier or laser printer) so it can be foiled or it can be printed on an inkjet and left black and white.  You can see the tag above, I just printed it in black and white.  You can download the For You printable HERE.

I did a couple of different colors of foil:

These were really hard to photograph and look much better in person!  Here is the back of the pocket with the tag:

Here's how to make the pocket:

These instructions are based on the printable as is.  If you change the size or position, you'll need to change the cuts and scores.

First thing, cut the For You sentiment off at 5" from the top.  You can see for this one, I left it black and white and swiped it with a little watercolor.

Then score as seen above.

Fold in the sides and cut off the long side to match the front.

Now you're ready to angle the sides.  Glue the sides, fold up and glue the bottom.  Done!

Canvaspop giveaway details:

Just let me know that you'd like to win in your comment.  One winner will be selected randomly and will be announced on Sunday, April 26th.   I'll send the winner a code that will be valid for one year.

Canvaspop is also offering a discount to everyone!

Use the code CHOUXCHOUX35 for a 35% discount on your order from Canvaspop!

So glad you stopped by!
