Fun Halloween Background + Video

Halloween!  What fond memories - from my childhood and when Lauren was little we threw the funnest Halloween parties, complete with games and trick or treating.  Last night, Lauren told me that Louisa is going to be a skunk this year.  I'll have to see if I can put together a skunk Halloween card!

These critters aren't skunks, but they are adorable!  I had a lot of fun coloring them.  The mummy rabbit is so cute!

The background on this card is really cool!  It's basic distress ink blending with a layer of microfine warm highlights glitter on top.  I've got a video showing this technique and a few tips along the way.

With Lauren getting Louisa's skunk costume from Pottery Barn Kids, I don't have to make a Halloween costume this year.  I wouldn't mind making one, but I'm kind of glad that's one thing to cross off my list.  What are your Halloween plans this year?

Z Fold Window Pass Thru Card + Video

Birthdays are always fun!  They're are even more fun when everyone can get together.  My daughter's birthday and my mom's birthday are one day apart, so we tend to celebrate them at the same time.

I made this card for Lauren.  I sent it to her in Wichita, because we didn't get together until a week after her birthday.   So I thought a paper hug would be fun!

I'm calling this card design a Z Fold Window Pass Thru card.  The Z fold part of the card is pulled through the opening of the base card.  I like making cards that are a little different from the standard fold.

I think this mouse kind of looks like he's opening his arms for a hug.  The mice are simply colored with copics and a couple of Staedtler Fine Liners for the little details like eyes, noses and glasses.

VIDEO: Make A Gusseted Bag with Flap

Do you love to give a little something to someone special?  This bag might work for you.  It's a great size - about 4" x 4 3/4".  

This is the exact same bag as the previous post.    I just wanted to make another one decorated with this darling stamp set!  So fun to watercolor!

I love the cutie mice with this set - but I was totally sold when I saw this sentiment!  Why?  I can't exactly say - it just made me smile.

Some Bunny Loves You!

Cute and sweet alert!  That's immediately what I thought when I saw these adorable bunnies.  (You can see the Somebunny stamps and dies at MFT Stamps.)  I meant to make something for Easter, but that didn't seem to happen.  So, when a friend asked me to send her some pink ribbon, I made a goodie bag instead!

Oh, I had so much fun coloring this little cutie with Copics!   Underneath is tag made with a new (to me) heart embossing folder from Stampin' Up.

When I made this bag, I wanted to add a little extra touch - the folded doily at the top.  Then I started thinking about it catching on whatever was pulled out from inside the bag.   So I came up with the idea of a liner.   The liner is the same width and just a little shorter than the actual bag.  After slipping it inside, I sewed up the sides.  This way the doily is sandwiched in between the  bag and the liner and nothing will catch on it.  (The size on this is 3 3/4" x 5 1/2" and the pretty bokeh paper is from Grepic.)

I've sent this little bag on its way.  I think it certainly qualifies as Happy Mail!
