Vintage Tootsie Roll

Gotta love Tootsie Roll Pops, right?  Especially at Halloween.  No other Pop makes quite the right ghost.  Tootsie Roll Pops have just the right shape.  Did you make them with Kleenex when you were a kid?  I can remember making them in school at least a few times.  My vintage tootsie roll treat bag is all about the Tootsie Roll Pop.

Do you remember the whole "How many licks does it take to get to the center of a Tootsie Roll Pop?"  Do you remember the owl in the commercials?  You can watch it HERE.  (The cute little ghost with his own Pop is part of a digital set from Jessica Weible Illustrations.)

My vintage bag includes a tally sheet featuring Mr. Owl and a matching pencil.

Aren't these bags cool?  I found them at a local antique store.  I'm not sure what the bags were used for.  Maybe at one time you could buy Tootsie Rolls and the proprietor would put them in this little glassine bag.  I really don't know.  If any of you know, I would love for you to tell me.

This was a sold out Choux Box kit.  But now I have a few more.  The guy I got the Tootsie Roll bags from called me and told me he had found 5 more bags.  So, if you would like a Vintage Tootsie Roll Treat Kit, email me (email button in sidebar) and I'll send you all the details.  If you are interested in future Choux Box Kits, you can sign up at the page tab above.

Have a lovely week!

  7. Not something that has 'crossed the Pond' but I love the treat bag Lori.
We have a sweet shop in one of the local large towns that stocks sweets from the USA/Aus/NZ etc. I must pay them a visit to see if they have started to stock these.

  8. A tally sheet...LOL....I love that!!! I never was a patient as that wise ol' owl. I loved that commercial. So strange that what we watched growing up is now becoming vintage....eeek!

  9. They might have used the tootsie roll bags at movie theaters? I remember a "Chilly Dilly" bag used for pickles, looks very similar :) Super cute find. For our customers, we stock tootsie rolls in our candy dish at our office! Love that they now have fruity flavors :)

  10. When in the world do you get time to shop in antique shops! Your Halloween treat bag is really special. I wonder how many links it would take to get to the tootsie roll center!
