Fairy Bride

My cousin participates in a women's Friendship Dinner in Hobart, Oklahoma. She is the hostess for her table and designs the setting. Her theme this year is Wedding. The past couple of years, she has asked me to create cards around her theme. I found this darling little fairy bride and knew it would have to be for one of the cards. I used the sketch at City Crafter Challenge blog to create it.
I kind of "scrunched" the sketch a little. I've been so busy the past few weeks with special orders, I wasn't sure I'd be able to complete it in time to post it on the City Crafter blog, but I think I'm going to make it with just a few hours to spare. The City Crafter blog has some quite excellent challenges. I really like the variety of challenges. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend it. The papers on this card are from My Minds Eye, except for the white lacy edge which is from Anna Griffin.
That cute crocheted lace at the bottom of the picture is from Hero Arts. I wanted the ribbons to be a pretty close match, so I dyed that yesterday.

Guy Card

Kirby needed a card for his cousin and it just so happens that the challenge at City Crafter is a guy card. The papers are from Crate Paper, except for the red which is old Basic Grey. I love the new Crate Paper, especially the playing cards.

A Piece of Moon

One night last week my grandma called me and told me to look at the moon. It was very pretty ringed by a foggy light. She recalled when I was little that I loved to look at the moon and I would say "Look, a piece of moon" if we were out at night. The City Crafter challenge this week is Let Your Light Shine. Included in the project must be something that is or makes a light. I realize that the moon does not make its own light, but it certainly looks like it's shining to us on earth! So, staying with the holidays I'm currently working on and with the phone call from my grandma, the moon seemed a wonderful choice. I love the shape of the moon with its man in the moon face and curly ends.
The moon and the house are cut with the October 31st Cricut cartridge. The background papers are from Cosmo Cricket and Rusty Pickle. The stamp is from Papertrey Ink.

I See Stars!

That's the challenge at City Crafter Challenge Blog this week. I'd had this darling little girl out for a few days along with that yummy orange stripe ribbon (May Arts), but hadn't quite decided what to do with her. When I saw the challenge, I knew immediately I was going to put her on a star shaped card. The stamps are from Papertrey Ink and the twine is Martha Stewart. The black polka dotted paper is from My Minds Eye. I have to say I absolutely love the ribbon! It's got a great feel and lays so nicely. I cut the stars with my Cricut (Plantin Schoolbook Cartridge) and sewed them together on the left side point. The finishing touch is the button tucked in to one of the folds of the ribbon.
I am soooo ready for fall! We've had just a touch this week - with way cooler temperatures. Just lovely!

Isn't She Lovely

That's the challenge at City Crafter. The project must include a girl or lady of some kind. I thought of this little girl because she is so cute and I love the expression on her face as she opens the door and sees the pretty Christmas tree (and perhaps packages underneath?).
The background papers are My Minds Eye. None of them are marketed as a Christmas collection, but I really like how they look behind her. The little girl, along with the door, are on popdots, which add great depth to this card. Added a little bit of sparkle to show off the light from the hall. Thanks for stopping by!

Guest Designer at City Crafter

Wow! How exciting...I'm the guest designer over at City Crafter this week! The challenge: I left my HEART in San Francisco is a fun one! The project has to have hearts of course. I designed a card with a scalloped frame and a heart that's slightly crooked attached to it. The hearts were created with Spellbinders dies. The image is a vintage image I found at a local antique store.
The papers are October Afternoon and Making Memories. The inside stamps are Verve.

Apron Card

From My Kitchen

Check out my project using both of those files. I bought this CHEAP recipe box at Michaels. It was not pretty, but I could see some potential. A friend of mine has been asking for several of my recipes, so I decided to give them to her in style!
I checked out The Cutting Cafe and found just the right sets. Then, I couldn't believe it, but the City Crafter Challenge this week was food! Are we on the same wavelength? I covered the recipe box with cute Bo Bunny papers. Added that great rooster stamp from Basic Grey and die cut a circle stamp from the Cutting Cafe. That cute little boy is a stamp from Crafty Secrets. Then...the fork! I really wanted to use a fork as the handle, but I couldn't figure out how to shape it. We visited my in-laws this weekend and I took my project with me, whined around a very little about the fork, and guess what? A simple project was completed by my husband and father-in-law...a wonderful bent fork with curled prongs for the top of my recipe box! (Worked like a charm!)
The inside divider cards have those wonderful circle stamps from The Cutting Cafe and cute Crafty Secrets stamps.
I decided the apron card was a perfect addition. I wanted it to match, but wanted it simple.
Just added some of my crinkle ribbon and a button and I felt happy! Don't forget toleave a comment to win two sets from The Cutting Cafe - winner will be announced August 14th.

Birthday Calendar

Wow! I just finished this project. I was afraid I wouldn't get it finished in time to link it to the City Crafter blog. The challenge this week was to use some kind of mail element (letter, stamp...) and at least one color from the inspiration picture. Green and lavender stood out for me. This birthday calendar started out as a blank Maya Road chipboard book.
I painted it cream all over and added 3 pages. Then I started adding cute silhouettes and vintage images having to do with mail.
I used a junior ecru paper pad to create the pages to write birthdays on. The silhouettes are from Stampin Up and Magenta Style.
I used quite a few Crafty Secrets stamps and the labels on the side are made from the Label #4 die from Papertrey Ink.
I'm so happy with how it turned out! It feels so nice and solid and so pretty to flip through. I can't wait to write my family's birthdays on the pages. Hope you've had a great weekend!

Santa's Cookies

If it was too early for Halloween, it's probably way too early for Christmas. I think I must be in the holiday spirit! For the first time, City Crafter's challenge is a sketch challenge. Here's the sketch:

Isn't this the sweetest little girl with her little chubby hands rolling dough? One of Lauren's first memories has to be making sugar and gingerbread cookies with us. Several pictures show Lauren absolutely covered in flour! This little girl is flanked by gingerbread men.
I didn't have one gingerbread stamp the right size! I used the gingerbread pattern from the Cutting Cafe. One thing that's great about digital stamps, they can be any size! I used my copics and colored pencils to color them and puff paint for the decorations. I added some little bells to my crinkle ribbon, along with some metallic floss. That red gingham scallop is made with Papertrey Ink's large scallop die. Are you getting in the holiday spirit? Or is it a little hard with all this heat?

City Crafter Challenge

The City Crafter Challenge this week is to use Red, White, Blue + Rose. Also talked about was England. So I put England together with rose to come up with the seed packet idea. The big pink roses look like English roses.
The papers are Kaisercraft and I've had that paper for quite some time. I tend to buy papers that I really like and then it might be years before I actually get around to using it. That's one reason these City Crafter challenges are so good for me. I've been looking through my stash to satisfy the challenge. I had just enough blue crinkle ribbon, have to make some more. Lazy Days

I've had this image sitting on my crafting table for awhile. I think it's darling. I remember being little in our backyard in McAlester sitting on an old red metal glider looking at the sky and making shapes in the clouds. The City Crafter challenge requirements this week are red and summer. My red is in the accents: buttons, baker's twine, and scalloped punch border. The background is a hodgepodge of papers from The Girls Paperie.

The banner is from The Cutting Cafe. I printed it out and covered it with October Afternoon's Fly a Kite paper. Hope you've had a great week and have a relaxing, fun weekend!
