Mini Floral Stamps Ideas #3 + Video

 I've been having fun with my mini floral stamps again.   I finished these up while Louisa was taking her naps last weekend.  

This time I've added distress ink into the mix.  All fun, easy ideas to incorporate into your creations.  You can see the video with tips below.

Talk about getting your money's worth - I've used these butterfly dies a lot!  I love the butterfly covered in flowers with a little milled lavender distress ink blended on the edges.

I heard someone say " Quit using unicorns, already!"  Well, no.  I think this unicorn is adorable and I'm going to continue coloring unicorns as long as I want to!  So there!

Seriously, though.  this is cuteness!  The mini floral stamps in the scallop tag are covered with a light layer of cracked pistachio distress ink.  I really like the flowers showing through, so I used distress ink in lieu of distress oxide.

The unicorn is colored the same colors as the flowers - love the stripes and pink hooves!

This is another stamp that is pure cuteness!  I love the tea theme and those mice are adorable.  You can barely see the distress ink on the teapot and cup.  It's spun sugar and the light pink is really pretty.  

You can probably think of stamps you could decorate with mini flowers.

My favorite mouse is the little one asleep with his little round belly.

Pretty Butterfly

Louisa will be coming back with me again this week.  I'm so excited!  Also, a tiny bit nervous, because Dennis has always flown with us and this time it will just be me and Louisa.  I'll be there for 3 days and then she'll stay here for 4 days.  That will be a wonderful stretch of time to be with her.  

This card had to be finished before I leave, as it's a special request card.  I dug out my butterfly dies (which I love) and some older Stampin' Up stamps.  It's fun to bring out some older goodies every once in a while.

I always love a multilayered butterfly.  This one has a pink butterfly, white and a vellum one topped with a blue butterfly, sequins and pink gingham ribbon.  

I tell you, the gold ink is so hard to photograph,  It's actually quite shiny, not flat.  Equally frustrating to photograph is the pretty gold watercolor that I flicked on it.  This photograph is the best I could get to show what the ink and watercolor actually looks like.

Layered Butterfly Wedding Shower Card

Last week's mission:  Create a special order wedding shower card.   

White seemed a good place to start.  So that's what I did...then I decided it needed a little color.  So I layered a solid butterfly underneath the white one that would hopefully provide what I was looking for and then I used that as a cue for the stamped flower.

Insides and an envelope to match and there you go, a pretty wedding shower card.

Love the layers and textures on this card and I hear that my customer and the recipient love it too!  Yay!  Mission accomplished.

Butterfly Envelopes

This is an oldie, but goodie - turning envelopes into treat bags.  I found these really cool Seventies envelopes at a flea market.  (It was more flea than market, but I did come away with some great stuff!)  Don't you love the orange and hot pink?

It couldn't be easier to turn your envelopes into a quick gift bag - perfect for a little treat or gift card - maybe both?

Seal the envelope (I use glue, instead of just licking it - want to make sure it stays sealed).

Then cut open one end - you can use pinking shears or decorative scissors.

Now what?  Just decorate!

This one already has some fun flowers.  I pinked across the top, clipped on a pretty butterfly and glued in a white doily on the inside.  Love it!

This one is a plain white envelope.  I wrapped wide washi tape around the bottom.  Holes are punched across the top and threaded with twine.  It got a pretty butterfly, too!

What a Fun Thank You + Free Image

I really like to find different ways to say "Thank you!"   I like this one - a retro guest check - the kind that you would have found at that little corner cafe tucked under your plate boasting the best, juiciest burger ever.  Hungry, yet?   Do you have any of those kinds of places in your neck of the woods?  I'd love to join you there!

Butterfly Love

I had such a wonderful weekend visiting my daughter in Wichita!  I so wish we lived in the same city.  I wish she lived next door, although she might like to live a little further away!  I promise Lauren - I wouldn't bother you...much... 

We had such lovely weather this weekend.  Is it time for butterflies yet?  I've always been fascinated when they come flitting by.  We never have very many around the house, maybe we need to plant different things to attract them.  I might not always be able to see butterflies outside, but I can always create with them.  I love vintage butterflies.  If you like this one, you can dowload it below.

How about quick and easy packaging?   This will only take you about 5 minutes, but I think someone would still be impressed with this vivid butterfly!  Here are some of the things I used:

I love the pretty kraft treat bag (just one of 4 designs from my store)  and the tiny punch (Petite Curly Label Punch).

I stamped it with one of the hearts from the Language of Love stamp set.  

No need to glue the doily - just wrap it with washi tape.  Be sure to make the washi a little longer than the fold over of the doily on the back - that way it will hold it down.  

Another tip:  Stick a piece of cardstock inside when you wrap and tie the twine.  That way the bag won't bunch and it's easier to make the twine tight.

I also created a card using the same butterfly.  You wouldn't think a green butterfly would be that versatile, but amazingly it goes with lots of things!   If you would like to download a copy of the butterfly, click HERE.

Live Your Bliss

We all have a lot of responsibility, but it's important to remember these three little words:  live your bliss.   

While I was making this card, I was thinking about what that really means.  We can't do what we want 100% of the time, but we can have and bring joy to others - it's the small moments that count. 

Live Your Bliss can mean a lot of things:  the time spent with loved ones, caring for and helping others, creating...   In what ways do you live your bliss?

Embossing Continues with Paper Sweeties

Who knew the  new border stamps from Paper Sweeties would make such a pretty butterfly?  Welcome to Day Two of the new stamp release and I've got more embossing!

I started out making a simple journal - just some folded notebook paper and cardstock sewed down the spine.  To make the middle part, I stamped and embossed the border several times and die cut a butterfly.  (The sentiment is from the new You Are stamp set.) Then I wanted  to package it up and add a special tag.

This would make such a sweet little gift.  The Paper Sweeties blog has all the details for the August release festivities and sweet inspiration, too!
