Easter baskets make me so happy!  I just have to make a little one every year.  Easter treat baskets are even more fun now that Louisa is here.  
I really like this basket.  It's a little different and rather sweet.

It's large enough for one easter egg.  And really easy:  just a box with a handle and strips added to the sides.  Check out the video here:

Easter Picnic Baskets with Pretty Pink Posh

What is it about Easter baskets?  I've always loved them.  

When I was little I used the same one every year.  One that was passed down from my uncle.  My daughter, Lauren, used the exact same Easter basket (this is when she was almost two) and I'm keeping it for Louisa.  She'll be the fourth generation to use it.  It's old, it's worn, but I love it!

I'm also in love with these mini Easter picnic baskets.  So fun to make and they turn out adorable, especially when topped off with that sweet little bunny.  I'm sharing these today over on the Pretty Pink Posh blog.

I've sized these to hold 2 plastic eggs.  Even though they're mini, they'll hold plenty to give as an Easter treat.

Louisa (even though she's only 4 1/2  months old) is definitely getting one of these.  Her momma can keep it and put it out every year.  If you make an Easter Picnic Basket to give away, I bet it will be loved enough to keep from year to year.

Easy Easter Basket

Happy Easter!  It smells like Easter in our house.  Tradition has it that we make a coconut cake every Easter.  The problem is that I love the taste of coconut, but hate the texture.  So a long time ago (about 30 years) Dennis came up with a solution.  We add more coconut milk and grind up coconut so the pieces are tiny.  That seems to work for me!  Yay!   And YUMMY!

Here is a really easy mini Easter Basket idea.  I used a flower cupcake liner and some paper wire.  (I picked both from Michaels.)  The cupcake liner (Wilton Brand) is very sturdy and works very well for a basket.  Just punch or poke a couple of holes for the handle.

Thread the paper wire through one of the holes and wrap a couple of times around a pencil or lollipop stick (whatever you've got that's round).  Repeat for the other side.

Fill with grass and some goodies and/or a cute bunny!  The flowers are attached with Aleene's glue.

Easter Berry Basket + Free Image

Easter baskets come in all shapes and sizes.  Large ones are great for an Easter Egg Hunt or for putting out for the Easter Bunny to fill.  I was curious about the origins of the Easter Basket.  I really wasn't too surprised to learn that Easter Baskets originate from Germany (we get a lot of our Christmas traditions from Germany after all).   It's most likely that Easter
Baskets come from German folklore involving the Easter Hare, who would leave candies, colored eggs and other goodies for kids.  Sound familiar?

Not only do Easter baskets come in different shapes and sizes, but they're also made of different things, too!  I used a white berry basket to make this one.

I really like the look of the double handle.  I wanted them to be at slightly different heights.  That was easy to do by adhering them together and tilting the top one just a little bit.  Then I just stapled them to the berry basket.

All the little bows are made with a bow builder punch.  They are adorable and so fast!  Curving the pieces with a bone folder really helps.

I use glue dots, but I also put a little dot of liquid glue, too, just for good measure!

I've been buying organic free range eggs.   I love the pretty brown color.  They look so cute dressed with mini bows!

How About A "Choux" Box?

You may have noticed the name of my blog is choux choux.  People ask me about it all the time.  It's pronounced shoo shoo.  It's a french term of endearment - "my little cabbage" -  which is a lot like Americans calling their children sweet little pun'kins.  What is it with fruits and vegetables?  My daughter actually named my blog for me because she thought I made cute little things.

Berry Basket turned Easter basket?  What do you think?  I love these turquoise berry baskets and when I saw the darling Easter stamps from Paper Sweeties, I thought it a perfect match!

I stamped the eggs from the Jelly Bean Time stamp set onto patterned paper and sewed them together to make a banner.

Colored the bunny (from Hippity Hoppity) with copics (just lightly with gray and pink) and popped him onto a plastic egg.

 In honor of the Easter portion of the magazine,  I'm sharing a little basket  I made featuring a twine wrapped Easter egg.

I discovered that (for me, anyway) that the twine wrapping worked better if I started at each end and met in the middle.  I also found it to be a little messy, glue everywhere, (but that's probably just me, too).  But I love the end result!

Easter Basket for Craft Us Crazy

Sweet bunnies (or bears dressed as bunnies), eggs, baskets...love them all!  So, of course, I did an Easter basket for the new Craft Us Crazy challenge:  Altered Item or Anything But A Card.

The eggs were fun to make - spray painted a primer on them first and them sprayed Vanilla on some and Catalina Mist on the others, then used a toothbrush to flick brown paint.  Surprisingly, they turned out really pretty!  And they can be filled with goodies, too...
