Little Lambs Eat Ivy

Keren (Free Pretty Things for You) and I are bringing you some sweetness again this month!  You'll want to download this little lamb, because not only is it adorable  - it is versatile.   I confess when I first looked at it, I thought "Easter".  And, of course, it would be perfect for Easter, but it was going to be after Easter before we could post it.  So you can probably already tell the thought process:  in like a lamb, Mary had a little lamb, baa baa black sheep, counting sheep, babies, little lambs eat ivy...

You can see which one won out for me.  I took the sweet lamb that Keren sent and used it to create a seed packet cover.  Imagine my surprise when I sent my project to her and she replied back that the original image came from a seed packet!!!  Must be fate...

If you download the image I created, you can print it on about any color.  I was going to draw the seed packet template, but personally I can't stand for there to be lines on my projects!  It's actually very easy to score and cut to make the seed packet - all with no lines!  The following instructions will tell you how to make the seed packet.

These instructions are based on where the image prints right from the download.  But if you change the size or position, it's pretty easy to figure out.

Score following the photos above.  Now let's create the tabs.

I designed the packet to open on the right, so it's got a slightly larger tab.

One more step on the tabs:

Now you're ready to fold up and glue.

Fold the sides in, the shorter side on top and then the bottom.  For the rustic white packet, I placed two seed packets in a glassine bag, folded it over and clipped it to the back of the seed packet.  I printed the sentiment (also available to download) on vellum.

For the pink and blue packets, I also created a Welcome Little One tag to place inside. The tag is also available for download.

You can download the Little Lambs Eat Ivy seed packet HERE.  The "If Friends were Flowers sentiment and Welcome Little One tag can be downloaded HERE.  To download the lamb image (colored and/or black and white) visit Free Pretty Things for You.

So glad you stopped by and have a lovely week!

Wildflower Seed Paper with Paper Sweeties

Do you know about seed paper?   It's so very cool and I had no idea it existed.  My daughter was visiting a couple of weekends ago and was telling me about this cool wrapper that came around a thank you card from a company from which she had purchased clothes.  She said it was called seed paper, and that you could PLANT IT, and it would GROW!

I immediately got online to see it for myself.  Sure enough, it is available in all kinds of colors and all kinds of seeds:  wildflower and herbs.  I got mine at Botanical Paperworks.  Then I thought of Paper Sweeties and that the stamp set Live Love Grow has a perfect sentiment:  Thank You From the Bottom of my Flowerbed.  So I decided to build a project around that and the wildflower seed paper.

I punched the seed paper into a couple of different heart shapes and dropped them in  a glassine bag.  It's hard to see in the picture, but the paper is full of little seeds.  You can also see in the paper I purchased that it also includes wildflower petals.

The glassine bag has been stamped with images from the new Paper Sweeties July stamp set Home Tweet Home and then heat embossed.  The sweet doll is Emma and her clothes (just like the sentiment) are from Live Love Grow.  It's all wrapped up in a seed packet (a cut file from The Cutting Cafe).

The directions for planting are stapled to the back of the seed packet.

Visit the Paper Sweeties Blog for more ideas using the new stamp release.

Had you heard of seed paper before?  What are your ideas to use it?   I think I can come up with a few more ideas.  Stay tuned!

The Happiest Birthday to You

Loving old things and scrounging through dusty old boxes must be some strange genetic thing.  Only thing is, I can't figure out where that gene must have come from.  I know my mom and dad must sometimes think I was switched at birth with their real child!

Found this darling silhouette the other day at the flea market  (excuse me) vintage sale and of course, she came home with me.  I used the seed packet cut file from The Cutting Cafe to make a pretty folder for her.

Love little sweet finds like this.  She was hidden away just waiting for me to find her!

Just Bee-cause at The Cutting Cafe

It's bees this week at The Cutting Cafe.  This set is darling and I think just perfect for a little "Just Bee-cause" gift of Burt Bee's lip balm.  It's called Beehive Shaped Card Set and comes with bees, a beehive, sentiments, background papers, and cut files!

I also used The Cutting Cafe's Seed Packet cut file to create this gift.   That file comes with all kinds of goodies, including 3 different seed packet styles.  I wrapped the Burt's Bees in plastic and pulled it through the opening and used a small clothespin to hold it and the sentiment.

I always think of Lauren (my daughter) when I see Burt's Bees.  She always liked it, even when she was little.  I keep a lip balm in my purse, so everytime I use it, I think of her.  It's so funny how memories are wrapped up in little things...

Love this darling bee and hive - even better that I cut them with my cricut instead of by hand!  Be sure to check out The Cutting Cafe blog - Regina is always giving away one (or more) of her awesome sets and on Wednesday she'll be showcasing DT creations using the Beehive set.  So glad you stopped by and here's wishing you a wonderful week!
