Tri_Fold Shutter Photo Display + Video

Long time, no see!  I've been spending my weekends with Louisa again and last weekend we had her mommy and daddy, too.  We had a one-child Easter egg hunt - which was the most fun ever!

The Easter egg hunt brought back a lot of wonderful memories.  Lauren's birthday is in April and many times we had an Easter egg hunt for her birthday party.

I took a lot of cute pictures of Louisa and had been thinking about a Tri-Fold card, so I just put the two things together.  I've done a video (you can see it below).  Of course, I had to change it up a little!

Why is this called a Tri-Fold Shutter Card?  I understand the Tri-Fold - there are three strips of folds.  But what does the shutter part mean?

Instead of leaving mine a standard Tri-Fold, I changed up my middle strip of folds.  You can see how to do it in the video.

True Story:  I've been buying my Copic refills and a few new Copic Sketch markers from Scrapbook Pal.  They've got great prices and I just found out that they have GREAT customer service, too.  I placed an order last week and a little while later, received a text from them asking if I meant to buy an Original marker.

Well, No!  I meant to buy a refill.  But seriously, have you ever had a company check with you to see if you ordered the right thing?  I'm so impressed.  They realized that I always order Sketch Markers.  I texted back and they took care of it all!

How cool is that?  I just had to tell you that story.  (I'm not getting any kickbacks, but I just wanted to share my experience in case you are looking for a place to buy copics.)

So glad you stopped by!

The Cutest Baby+First Mother's Day

It's Lauren's first Mother's Day!   It's so awesome, especially since for years we weren't sure it would ever happen.

Here's Louisa rocking her kitty hat...we had so much fun dressing her up (or undressing as the case may be) and taking pictures.  Hard to see, but she also has on her first ruffled undies.   And she is practically purr-fect in every way...

Lauren is always laughing and saying, "We made the cutest baby!"  And, of course, I believe it's true!  I created this fold-out card just for Lauren to celebrate her first Mother's Day.

If you like the cards, you can print them out too.  I made them in pink and blue.

They work for a card like I've made or they could be used for a Project Life page or pocket letter.

I used the last card for a little fold-up that is attached to the back.  I'll write a personalized note to Lauren.

Here's another idea for a pretty Mother's Day card:

You may remember the other mason jar card I made.  You can see it here.

The above link also shows how to put it together.  I did exactly the same thing to create this one.

Maybe these cards will work for you.  Or put them in a file, you may want to use them later.

I just got back from Denver and will go again in a couple of weeks.  So happy to spend time with Lauren and Louisa and celebrate Lauren's first mother's day!

Grad Cards - Make Them Personal

Suzanne, as you know, loves photo cards.  She keeps me busy making them with her fun photos.  I think these photo cards are a wonderful idea:  graduation cards for mother and daughter.

I decided that I would make matching cards instead of both cards being exactly the same.  Here is the mom's card:

Suzanne loved the cards and let me know that mother and daughter were also thrilled.  That's always nice to hear!

It's been awhile since we've had a graduation in our family.  Lauren and her husband, Paul, were the most recent and that's been about 5 years ago.  Did you have a graduation this year?

Hip Hip WHOOray + Look What I Found!

Hip Hip Whooray!!  That's what I was yelling out, dancing around with my camera.  Okay, well maybe not the WHOO part, but definitely HOORAY!  Remember on the last post, I lamented my loss of quite a few files on my computer and especially the card I made for Suzanne with a photo of her aunt's garden?  Guess what I found on my camera???   THAT card!!  Can you believe it?  Somehow I didn't get it deleted off!  Hip Hip Hooray!

I'm so glad I found it!  This card was so fun to make - I put down a watercolor background, in pinks and yellow.

Then dressed it up with some of my favorite things:  ribbon, button, butterfly, doily...

washy tape and fancy borders...  I'm still doing a happy dance!

Now to the WHOOray part...

I put together an owl kit awhile back, sold out, and found another set of owl cards.

This one is a little different - she's got those cut glasses and

she's got a bit of flair!

If you're interested in an owl kit, I have a very small number in my etsy store.  The kits even come with all the inside packaging.  You just need adhesive and the goodies for inside the packaging!

Edited to add:  Owl kits are sold out.  Thank you!

Hope you're having a lovely weekend!

A Lonely Photo Card

That post title ought to say something about photo cards - plural.  However, my computer had some major issues and my folder labeled CARDS 2014 (along with CARDS 2013 and 2012) totally disappeared!  Do you remember that commercial awhile back where the guy threw his computer out a second story window?  I had my bedroom window open...

My daughter thinks I'm jinxed when it comes to electronics.  She's always saying "Only you, Mom!"  Well, I ended up getting a new computer and am trying to adjust.

You may remember my post about Suzanne and her photos.  I've created quite a few cards for her since then, but I only have photos of this one, because I did it this week. You'll just have to take my word for it:  I had a lovely one of Suzanne's aunt's garden that I really wanted to share.

Luckily, I like this one, too!  The photo is so sweet with the donkey (burro? mule?) standing there with the wooden walk-a-long.  We have to take friends where we find them, right?  Maybe they need to get him a playmate!

I'm off trying to relearn Photoshop Elements (I upgraded to PSE12 from PSE8).  Yikes, who knew it would be so different?

Have a lovely rest of your week!
